Stamping 101

I have had a few non-stampers contact me asking what they need to start stamping. I thought I would use Tuesday (Tips) to have a Stamping 101 for those that want to start making cards but don't know where to begin.
When I started stamping, I found it overwhelming. I had a hard time figuring out what I really needed vs. what someone wanted to sell me. I have put together a list of items that would get anyone started and allow them to make a few different cards with this first purchase.
For the next few Tuesdays I will make cards using only the items from the Stamping 101 list.
This list is a foundation for stamping. Future purchases will add to it and give you a great deal of flexablity. This list is designed to get you stamping right away.
You will need tools, paper, ink, stamps, embellishments, adhesive, and cleaner.
Stamping 101
Paper cutter #104152    SNAIL adhesive #104332    Stampin' Mist #102394
Bone folder #102300    Very Vanilla Card Stock (CS) #101650    Basic Black CS #121045
Assorted CS Brights #119706    Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack #117155
Stampin' Wright Markers Brights #119702    Basic Black Marker #100082
Upsy Daisy Stamp Set #111710    Bird Punch #117191   3/8" Taffeta Ribbon Very Vanilla #109071

The above order would qualify for level one hostess benefits (total before sh+tax =$161)

If you select Punch Potpourri #118394- wood or #120124-clear* clear mount stamps do require clear block which are not included with the stamp.
And then use the $15 in hostess benefits to purchase a Stampin' Scrub #102642 (stampin scrub is $16.95 so there will be an addition of $1.95 to you purchase total) You will now have everything you need to begin making cards for a variety of occasions.

Here are a few I made this week:

I think this card could be given to a person of any age celebrating a birthday. I don't think I would give it to my husband but we can work on man cards later.

I would send this card as a thinking of you, or if someone has been ill or even as a sympathy card.

one more...

This last one I would use with a gift...a thank you gift... a bottle of wine, a nice collection of cards, a candle, any little thank you gift or maybe to someone I wanted to thank but didn't know well.
Just a sweet little card of thanks.

Look for new cards next Thursday using different colors from the Brights collection.

Thanks for stopping by and looking :-)

Nice cards! I'm pretty sure I have this stamp set, but I wasn't sure how to use the sentiments with the image. Now I know! I really like all of your examples.

This is a great list for someone starting out. I wish someone would have given me this advice when I first started because I bought lots things that I don't even use. It is much smarter to do as you suggested and build from there as your interest and skills increase.
