Freshly Made Sketches #50

I have something to admit...
I am in a funk.
My blog is in transition to moving to a new site.
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all I should do right now.
So much so, that I don't want to do any of it. I just want to be a mom and wife.
So, I am going to ask something of you.
I need some encouragement.
If you have ever had anything good come from visiting me,
will you leave me a comment and tell me so.

I know it will pass.
But I need it to pass sooner rather than later. :-)

Freshly Made Sketches help.
I love how simple the designs are. You are free to step it up as much as you want,
but they are good simple designs just as they are.
Don't you love that?

Thank you FMS - you helped me today :-)
Supplies:
  • Chocolate Chip CS, Midnight Muse CS, Very Vanilla CS, Comfort Cafe DSP
  • Trust God stamp set

Oh Girl! Being in a funk is just a part of life. Hope your funk doesn't last long. It's only natural to be overwhelmed with so much going on. I've been a fan of yours for years - from SS days. And one of these days I'm going to factor in an extra day when I'm visiting my Mom to come meet you and do some stamp shopping. I made a dozen cards for my Mom a few months ago - you are my go-to inspiration. If you need to take a break, by all means, take one. We'll still be here when you're ready to pick up again. Go splurge on something for yourself!

I always get inspiration from you! My 'fail' is that I don't take the time to tell you so. I love the lines of your cards....your style is pleasing to my eyes.

I love your site, it is the first one I visit every morning here in Tx. I think you are super talented. My stampin up demonstrator uses your designs in the card class that I go to once a month and all the girls love your stuff too. So jump out of your funk lady!!!

I found you through scrapshare and I can honestly say - you consistently have the most beautiful cards. I bookmarked your blog and stalk you on scrapshare. I LOVE your work!

Joanie- i love your cards and case them often. but i was especially inspired by your teachers lounge remodel. What a wonderful Welcom eBack to School gift. I am sure the teachers felt appreciated by your creativity and warmth you added to their "hang out". And, of course, I love that you shared it with us. You are so talented. think of your "funk" as a rest so you can come back with more brilliant ideas and creativity to share. Please don't give up- I love reading your blog on a daily basis.

Joanie, before I even clicked to come to your site this afternoon, I was thinking to myself about how you do such an amazing job and I look forward to seeing your daily blog posts. Your blog has helped me get out of my creative funk on occasion, clued me in on a few sketch and color challenges, and provided me with additional creative ideas that I now use. One example is your skinny mat. I used to just do a 1/8 inch reveal mat, but you have me hooked on that skinny mat to give the image just a bit of a punch, but not too much to overwhelm or take too much real estate from the rest of the card.

If you need a break to focus on family and rejuvenate, it's certainly understandable. But please know that your blog provides a lot of inspiration. Oh and when you transition to your new web site, I hope you leave this one up as there are lots of ideas here.

You inspire me with your beautiful, yet simple cards and your patience with beginners. Thank you for helping us bring cheer to others through cards.

Lovely card Joan! I love that Comfort Cafe DSP! Great sentiment as well. I think being in a fun seems to be going around! i've been going through a similar thing and find it hard to get motivated to get down to the craft room to make cards! Hope your funk passes quickly!

Oh my friend, I have been where you are. Don't you just hate it when your Mojo seems to have taken a vacation and be avoiding you? Couple that with 3 kids in school and it's no wonder you are in a bit of a funk. You're back from convention and overloaded with great ideas and no time to put them to use. Sound about right? THIS TOO SHALL PASS. You are one of my favorite inspirations and I know you'll be fine. Actually, it makes me feel just a bit more normal to know that even you sometimes need a break. For the love of pete, you've been putting out a post a day and at least one video a week for how long now? I don't think you need to apologize for taking a break. Recharge your batteries, play with your kids, spend time with your hubby and we'll see you when you are back in your groove. :o)

We've all been there, so don't worry. I am quilty of reading your posts,
getting inspiration from them and never telling you how much I llike
them. Mostly because I don't understand all this account stuff so just go to the anonymous line. Hope this will pass quickly, but please know that
I check your blog everyday and have used many of your ideas. I love the clean lines and colors that you use. Take a break, but some back soon!!

Joan, I'm pretty sure you already know how much you have inspired me, but just in case it might help... Not only did you teach me HOW to make cards, you taught me so well I decided to become a demonstrator. You were so good, that I chose YOU to sign with. If you need to spend time being a wife and mom, do it. Your mojo will be back soon and we will be here waiting. Oh, and go easy on yourself. This time of year we are all busy wrapping up our summers, getting back to school and routines. Pretty soon we will be creating, sharing and shopping. :)

Well, I hate that you are in a funk! That is not fun. I want you to know that I also have been following you for a long time from SS to here. I just started with SU about 2 months ago and am new to card making. Although I have been scrap-booking for a long long time, cards to me were another story. I purchased class planners and check about every other day to get inspiration. Because of that, I started back up my old blog and have been putting pictures on there of the cards that I am starting to create. So, if it were not for you being an example, I would not be as far along as I am today! I look forward to seeing what you create next!

Love your blog! and I appreciate the nice comments you leave on my blog :-) Very sweet of you. I do know about being overwhelmed. One little thought I've had recently...card making will always be there, but the season you have with your kids will end. Time spent with them is the best investment you can make.
I love cardmaking! But having just broken my arm, the Lord has been showing me where my time is best spent. Time spent with my kids and grandchildren is a much better time investment...by far. I didn't like breaking my arm, but I am thankful for the insights I've come away with from the forced "break" away from cardmaking.

Let me count the good I have gotten from visiting you:
1) Your Trending Tuesdays helped me to curb my "collecting" and make great cards with stuff I've already got.

2) I like your crafting style, your writing style, and the down-home-folks way your videos are produced. They're all real.

3) I am just a few hours post-colonoscopy and girl, I am in need of something to take my mind off my crampy self. So it is a GOOD thing I came here. I not only get to look at your awesome creations, I also get to get the heck off my cross and send some good vibes to someone whom I respect and admire for all she's achieved and shared. You put some great stuff out into the universe, my friend. May it find its way back to you.

Wow ...what a fabulous card ... I love your mix of patterned papers on each of the panels, the perfectly said sentiment and the rustic feel of your button and twine .... just awesome!
I too understand that it can all be overwhelming, but it does pass! In the meantime it's those precious and treasured moments spent with our families that count the most ....enjoy!
