Step It Up! Saturday.... on Thursday

Last week I used a Freshly Made sketch as my inspiration for my Step It Up cards.
I posted card #3 early so I could join the challenge.

I posted my card #3 thinking is was the most beautiful and, you know, special.
It was vintage, distressed, inked...
Well, had I bothered to READ the Freshly Made sketch guidelines, I would have learned they want
clean card. You know, the kind I usually do for step #1 or #2
but dummy me, didn't read and I posted the EXACT kind of card they don't want
LOL
I am an idiot.

So, this week I give you all three at one go.
I will put #2 in at Freshly Made Sketches and maybe #3 at ColourQ. I love #1 but I guess it is too simple for some of these challenges.

Step It UP! Saturday #68

I sat down last weekend and attempted to do 3 weeks worth of blog postings in one day.
My mojo got pretty weak.
So, I turned to Teneale Williams again.
I made my version of her card - her cards are always step 3 cards - and thought
I could work backwards and create a step it up project.
Doing these cards, I really get lost in the process and love that I have something to follow and just make it. Love it.
As you can imagine, step #3 takes a bit of time, but the results are well worth the effort and let's face it the creating is so much fun!
Anyway here are my other step cards for Teneale's fabulous card:

Wednesday ... Cards I Love! and Retro Sketches

I am on a Night of Navy kick. I have always loved Navy but haven't used it much in the past 6 months or so. Now, I am reaching for it every other time I sit down to make a card.
It is easy to go masculine with Navy, but I love the challenge of making a sophisticated feminine card using Night of Navy.
This sketch was a perfect match for this type of card!
I love the way it turned out.
Supplies:
  • Sahara Sand CS, Night of Navy CS, Very Vanilla CS, Whisper White CS, First Edition DSP
  • Artistic Etchings, French Foliage, Elements of Style, Fresh Vintage
  • StazOn Black, Sahara Sand, Night of Navy
  • 5 Petal Punch, 1" Square Punch, Postage Punch, Antique Brads, Dimensionals, Stamping Sponges

Wednesday....

I don't blog hop very often. I don't usually have the time to go searching blogs for inspiration. I found myself doing this the other day and found an amazing artist, Teneale Williams. She is in Australia and is a Stampin UP demo.
Her cards are amazing and her entries don't really explain what or how she does it, so I had to try to CASE a couple of her cards, just for the challenge of re-creating them.
Here is today's attempt.
Coloring this was fun and I love the effect of painting the background after I colored the flowers.

Use It UP! Friday

This one didn't turn out like I envisioned. I think maybe I should have stamped the roses in black and colored them in with the Cherry Cobbler. I wanted a more dramatic, contrasty look. I think the green and softness of the roses misses the mark. But there it is.

Technique Thursday

While I was preparing this week's Step It UP! projects for the video, I messed up the image.
I was frustrated with myself and didn't want to re-do the whole thing. So I attempted to fix or cover up my mistake.
First, I should explain that I stamped this image and then painted the flowers with an aquapainter. The aquapainter was too wet, and the details in flowers blurred.

I started by using the fine point end of the marker to add some definition to the image. While it did improve the image, it still looked like I was trying to fix the blur.
The solution?
One of my favorite SU products...Dazzling Diamonds.
I outlined the image and blurred areas with 2-way glue, and then applied dazzling diamonds.
You can't see the sparkle in this photo but hopefully it will be visable in the video.
This is a sneak peek for Step It Up! Saturday:

I used:
Stamps: Elements of Style #120045 clear #118611 wood, Bella Toile #111598
Paper: Marina Mist #119682, Basic Black #121045, Whisper White #100730
Ink: Marina Mist Pad #119668, Marker #119679, Certainly Celery Marker #105106, Garden Green Marker #100080, Bashful Blue Marker #105111, Versamark #102283
Other: Square Lattice Embossing Folders #119976, SU Organdy Black (retired), gems (non-su), 2-Way Glue Pen #100425, Dazzling Diamonds #102023
